Which one is my language?

It would have been easier to answer this question five or six years ago, but now the answer depends. I am in Mexico right now, so most of what I speak/listen in every day conversations is in Spanish. However, I read and write mostly in English, and sometimes I find myself speaking more English than Spanish.

I rather use English in mostly any situation (that does not mean I do not like Spanish), so I could say that English is my language. However, my L1 is Spanish (and like it or not, it will always be), so am I supposed to say that Spanish is my language?

I can identify with this one! Sometimes I think there's too much emphasis given on L1/L2 distinctions. Do you feel equally comfortable in both? Then you have 2L - two languages! LOL
